Provide nursing care and advice to patients requiring treatment for malignant and non-malignant Breast and Colorectal cancer, solid tumours/ haematological disorders. Treatments include administration of SACT; IV and oral SACT, and other Anti-Cancer treatments, such as; Monoclonal Therapies, IV immunoglobulins, Blood and Platelets transfusions, Zometa and Pamidronate infusions and performing venesections. The post holder must possess the ability to work unsupervised following competency assessment and co-ordinate oncology/haematology day case in the absence of more senior staff. Main Duties and Responsibilities o As part of the haematology/oncology team, help achieve and maintain a high standard of patient care. o Assist in providing a seamless service for Oncology and Haematology patients by working as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with other medical staff, specialist nurses and hospital departments as required o Maintains professional and safe standards of care and report divergence from them to the relevant senior staff o Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients, carers and staff. o Accurately completes all documentation and patient records. o Supports and counsels distressed patients and relatives affected by the consequences of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment o Maintains safe custody and administration of medicines concordant with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Trust and Network policies. Report untoward occurrences to the Unit Manager/Sisters. o Upholds the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of conduct

What you'll need:
A minimum of 6 months paid experience within an oncology ward environment within the last 3 years
Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
Essential Skills, Qualifications or Training:
Good general education (GCSE) or equivalent experience Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification Relevant active professional registration (NMC) Good computer/IT skills, with knowledge of trust and Christie systems Excellent communication skills at all levels Problem solving skills Good telephone manner Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures Venepuncture & cannulation Confident and able to deliver Intravenous therapies/subcutaneous injections/IM injections Blood Product administration Ability to work under pressure on a busy day unit and to organise/prioritise workload and experience of working to deadlines Ability to independently carry out patient toxicity assessments and manage patient side effects of treatment Ability to recognise and act on signs of Sepsis/ Hypersensitivity SACT treatment reactions rapidly and in a calm and professional manner. Venesection trained Occupational Health Clearance UKONS passport (or working towards) Previous experience of working within an Oncology/Haematology or chemotherapy setting.
