Summary



The Online Merchandiser plays a pivotal role within the Product team, responsible for
ensuring all product listings are optimised for performance across digital
channels. Acting as the bridge between the Product and Marketing functions,
this position ensures every product is accurately represented, visually
compelling, and search-optimised to achieve maximum reach and conversion.

This role requires a deep understanding of the product portfolio, active collaboration
across departments to gain full product insight, and the ability to translate
that knowledge into compelling online content. The Online Merchandiser will
oversee the creation, optimisation, and maintenance of online listings,
ensuring all product data, imagery, and SEO elements meet brand and commercial
standards.

Through precise coordination, attention to detail, and cross-functional teamwork, the
Online Merchandiser will help drive commercial success by ensuring every online
product experience is engaging, accurate, and competitive within the market.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities



Product Listing Creation:



Manage the end-to-end process of creating and publishing online product listings.

Ensure all product descriptions, specifications, imagery are accurate and reflect key product benefits.

Utilise AI tools and automation to support the creation and refinement of product descriptions, enhancing speed to market while maintaining tone & quality.

Collaborate with the Product and Marketing teams to brief and review product photography, video, and other creative assets.

Optimisation:



Write and refine product copy to ensure listings are fully optimised for SEO and online discoverability.

Work closely with the Marketing team to regularly review keyword performance, search trends, and analytics to continuously improve product visibility.

Work with the Marketing team to implement best practices for on-page optimisation and conversion rate improvement.

Product Knowledge & Collaboration:



Attend key product meetings and range reviews to develop product knowledge.

Work closely with the Product team to understand key selling points, features, and target sectors.

Cross-Department Coordination:



Liaise with Marketing to align product launches with campaign activity, ensuring timing and messaging consistency.

Coordinate with the Sales & Customer Service teams to ensure product content helps reduce queries and enhance the customer experience.

Performance Monitoring:



Track and report on the performance of listings, identifying opportunities to enhance visibility and conversion.

Propose and implement improvements to product content, layout, or categorisation based on data insights.

Content Quality Assurance:



Maintain consistency and accuracy across all listings, ensuring that product imagery, descriptions, and attributes meet standards.

Conduct regular reviews of the site to ensure product information remains accurate, relevant, and up to date.

Monitor and maintain website filters and categorisation to ensure products are correctly assigned, navigation is intuitive, and customers can easily find what they are looking for.

Flexibility:



Support wider Product team initiatives as required, contributing to the department's continuous improvement and innovation efforts.

Team, Processes and Department Developments



Manage processes meticulously and consistently, always looking for ways to improve.

Develop knowledge of own role while building an understanding of related job functions within the wider team.

Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure the smooth flow of processes, information and product launches.

Keep the team up to date with the outputs of all relevant processes, ensuring clarity
and alignment.

Communication and Relationship Building



Build strong, collaborative relationships across the Product and Marketing teams.

Ensure clear, proactive communication to maintain alignment between teams during product launches and updates.

Develop effective relationships with external partners and agencies where required.

Communicate effectively at all levels, both written and verbal, with an understanding of when and how to use the appropriate method.

Salary and Benefits



Salary range: 30,000 - 35,000, depending on experience Based at our Trafford Park office, Manchester (M17 1SJ). 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm). 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays. 2 weeks paid sabbatical after 5 years of service.
