Through our waste contract with Greater Manchester Combined Authority, SUEZ has made a commitment to set up three re-use shops on our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) along with a re-use hub to sell donated items and generate 320,000 annually to be re-invested in social projects in Greater Manchester. The Online sales operative will take ownership of the daily running of the online platforms & Click and Collect operation at our Reuse Hub at Nash Road, Trafford Park to support our other activities.
About The Role

This role will mainly be based at the Nash Road Hub in Trafford Park, but may be required to work from other Greater Manchester locations.
Salary: 28,882 per annum
(pro-rated for 6 months)
Working: 37.5 hours per week
What will I be doing?
Work towards achieving the sales targets for the re-use web sales.
Responsible for merchandising of stock: sort, prepare, price & detail suitable descriptions for all items for sale to ensure both legal compliance and to maximise sales and customer satisfaction
Generate and upload suitable photographic images to support the sales of approved items
Serve and positively interact with customers and provide sales advice to ensure repeat custom
Operate the till system. Reconcile card receipts at the beginning and end of each shift
Manage stock and communicate with the re-use hub management for required stock
Process returns and refunds
Promote and maintain excellent customer service and retail standards, as well as equality and diversity to ensure we offer an accessible, safe and welcoming environment for all
Ensure goods are sold at an appropriate value
Ensure any rejected items are disposed of appropriately
Maintain the security of the Hub Click and Collect premises, including the sales, storage, photography and customer areas and property including stock
Ensure deliveries and collections are completed in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner
Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping and daily controls are maintained as standard practice
Encourage and promote the values of the operation and promote the charitable nature of the re-use scheme within Greater Manchester
Recruitment, training, management and support of volunteers
Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork within the workplace to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
Any other duties required to achieve the smooth and profitable running of the operation
Work closely with the re-use hub management, Repair Pod operatives and site staff to ensure sufficient levels of stock are maintained to achieve sales targets, whilst educating what items are saleable and in demand
Provide information as required to the re-use hub manager to ensure regular publicity via social media
Ensure adequate cover to maximise trading hours
Ensure that the Click n Collect area is compliant and operates in-line with SUEZ's policies and procedures and within the relevant legislation and Trading Standards guidelines
Ensure items sold are fit for sale, comply with legislation and have undergone the relevant function and safety checks
Assure items are received and stored according to Health & Safety risk protocol
Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on all aspects of trading activity as required for regular reporting to the re-use hub manager and other relevant agencies in line with GDPR legislation
Confident and positive communicator with individuals from all walks of life
Ability to follow procedures relating to sale of goods and dealing with returned products
Aptitude to influence customer purchasing decisions by providing accurate guidance on product and price comparisons
Competency to use a variety of selling techniques
Ability to help match products to customer needs
Talent to determine reusable items from waste
An eye for quality items and to price up second-hand goods using all available tools
Ability to operate a forklift truck for material movement and storage
Manual handling capability
Ability to operate a till system
Mathematical skills to reconcile sales / card receipts
Competency to support volunteers to ensure that the service provided is of a high quality
Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Photographic experience and / or competency

What are the requirements?
A flexible attitude to work, shift-work, weekend work and alternate locations when necessary
Lone working will be necessary within the click and collect operation until volunteers are available
Close working relationship with the Reuse Hub site staff
Equivalent of grade b or above in GCSE Maths & English Language
