Reporting to an Operations Manager, this role works within a team of six Operational Controllers operating on a 24-hour rota, 7 days per week. The team have responsibility for the control, monitoring and maintenance records of access to and from windfarm sites by contractor personnel and other parties in accordance with the Wind Turbine Safety Rules. Additional duties include monitoring turbine performance and providing reports to our team of Engineers and clients throughout the day.
The Person
This is a great opportunity to work in the renewables industry; full on the job training will be given. Whilst we do not expect previous experience, to apply, you must have excellent communication skills specifically over the telephone and a proven excellent customer service skills. As this is a safety critical function the successful candidate will be comfortable in challenging the status quo and escalating concerns to ensure that correct procedures/processes are being followed.
Additionally, to apply, you must have good IT skills as there is a requirement to send out basic monitoring reports and excellent attention to detail ensuring that the correct information is being sent out internally and to our clients.
Primary Objectives
Ensure the correct application of the Wind Turbine Safety Rules on operational wind farm sites.
Control, monitor and maintain records of access to and from wind farm sites by contractor personnel and other parties.
Minimise risk of accident, injury or illness on operational sites by implementing and recording transfer of control procedures in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
Monitor turbine performance and all site activities and events that affect the operational performance of operating wind farms and assist in compilation of reports.
Provide an active contribution towards ensuring operations and maintenance activities are carried out to industry best practice and current legislation in terms of Health, Safety and the Environment.
Key Tasks/Duties
Responsible for the Transfer of Control of the Wind Turbine Generator Plant and/or LV Apparatus in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
Help to ensure that only Competent Persons are approved and permitted for working on the Wind Farm.
Ensure that required H&S documentation is in place and recorded by OC for all on site work prior to commencement.
Act as Emergency contact on all Operational sites in the event of an Emergency and initiate the relevant emergency procedure.
Control work orders for routine and non-routine turbine work.
Basic Qualifications
Essential - Computer Literate;
Essential - Willingness to work shift work/ non routine hours including weekends;
Essential - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
Highly Desirable - 2 years + previous work experience in Operation of Wind Farms;
Desirable - Knowledge of LV/ HV systems and Wind Turbine Safety Rules;
Fluent English;
Good Communication skills both verbal and written to ensure all relevant safety issues and site activities are relayed to the technicians and also internally to the rest of the operations team;
Shift working, including weekends, will be involved as the cover is required 24hrs per day every day.
