As an OT / Cyber Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of Vale's industrial control systems, including DCS and SCADA networks. You'll work closely with Operations and IT teams to integrate, protect, and optimise automation systems that underpin safe and sustainable refinery operations. Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimise refinery DCS and SCADA networks.
Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks in operational technology environments.
Ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with best practices in OT operations and security.
Collaborate with IT, Production, and other stakeholders to integrate OT systems with enterprise infrastructure.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve real-time industrial automation and control processes.
Deploy, configure, and maintain hardware and software for PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
Audit compliance against Vale's OT policies and procedures; develop forward-looking policies to meet emerging legislation.
Proactively problem-solve OT issues to minimise downtime and operational risks.
Contribute to a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and innovation across the refinery.
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, or related discipline.
5-7 years' experience working with industrial automation systems and operational technology.
Strong knowledge of network security frameworks, industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, PROFINET), and OT/ICS cybersecurity principles.
Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and automation hardware/software integration.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
