Job summary

Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers and drive economic growth.

Ofgem delivers renewable energy and social programmes on behalf of government - this is done through the Delivery and Schemes Directorate. These schemes are varied - covering Renewable Heat, Renewable Electricity, Energy Efficiency and fuel poverty - collectively, they are worth 9bn a year. And crucially, these schemes are critical to hitting our Net Zero goals and providing support for households.

As part of the administration of these schemes, we are tasked with the assessment of a large volume of applications to verify eligibility, assessment of high volume and value data submissions, working on amendments, carrying out calculations/review of quantitative data sets, maintaining internal databases; and authorising payments/certificates to participants.

The Audit team is responsible for delivering audit programmes through external auditors under the various schemes we administer. We currently administer 10 environmental and social schemes, valued at approximately 9bn a year in consumer and taxpayer's money.

Job description

You'll thrive on developing new skills, capabilities, and expertise, and enjoys being actively involved in a wide range of diverse activities such as stakeholder engagement, investigation, policy development, and project management.

You'll have a strong interest in the energy sector in its broadest sense and are deeply passionate about securing positive outcomes for both current and future consumers. Strong commitment to consumer protection is matched by a keen desire to support Ofgem's role in achieving Net Zero.

Furthermore, you are a champion of inclusion, consistently encouraging, supporting, and celebrating the diverse voices and experiences of colleagues. This inclusive approach not only fuels innovation but also ensures that the organisation authentically represents the consumers and communities we serve.
