Target are an IT hardware and software distributor supplying the independent retail channel as well as online retailers, system integrators and reseller customers. We have an expanding portfolio working with over 50 direct or exclusive brands including taking our own branded products to market. We actively stock over 1,400 SKUs in our warehouse in Castleford but we source over 10,000 products a year for our broad customer base.
Role Summary
Target Components is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Operations and Facilities Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, facilities management, and health & safety compliance. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strategic oversight, operational excellence, and strong leadership in a fast-paced environment focused on next-day delivery logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
Manage daily operations including Goods-In, storage, order fulfilment, dispatch, and returns.
Ensure accurate inventory control through WMS and regular stock audits.
Optimize warehouse layout and storage capacity to support operational efficiency.
Monitor KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with purchasing and sales teams to maintain stock accuracy and timely order processing.
Facilities Management
Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the building, infrastructure, and equipment.
Manage vendor relationships for facility services and maintenance.
Ensure compliance with safety, security, and environmental regulations.
Plan and manage budgets for facilities and warehouse operations.
Health & Safety
Develop, implement, and enforce health & safety policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with HSE legislation.
Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the warehouse.
Staff Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and motivate warehouse and facilities staff.
Recruit and onboard new team members.
Set performance targets and conduct regular reviews.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Strategic Oversight
Drive automation and technology adoption to improve operational efficiency.
Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.
Produce regular reports and analysis to support decision-making and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience managing end-to-end warehouse operations in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
In-depth knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices.
Budgeting and financial management experience.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Qualifications
NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
Process improvement qualifications are desirable.
Experience with automation and warehouse technology integration.
