The Operations & Transport Planner will be responsible for ensuring the smooth daily running of warehouse operations and transport planning at our site Basingstoke. This role combines operational oversight with route planning, KPI reporting, and monitoring order status to ensure efficiency, compliance, and excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Planning & Compliance
Plan and optimise daily delivery routes using MaxOptra to achieve maximum efficiency.
Allocate vehicles and drivers in line with customer requirements and legal compliance.
Maintain O-licence compliance, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and records.
Work with drivers to resolve issues, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to company standards.
Operations Support
Coordinate with the warehouse team to align picking and loading with transport schedules.
Monitor daily order status reports and late reports, flagging and resolving issues promptly.
Assist with order fulfilment planning to ensure timely delivery to customers.
Support stock control and movement of materials where required.
Prepare and maintain KPI reporting for operations and logistics performance.
Help identify and implement process improvements in operations and logistics.
Customer & Stakeholder Communication
Act as the first point of contact for transport-related queries.
Liaise with sales, warehouse, and admin teams to ensure smooth order flow.
Provide timely updates on deliveries, delays, or issues.
General Duties
Ensure Health & Safety and company policies are followed at all times.
Produce and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational and logistics performance.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or operations (manufacturing/distribution sector preferred).
Strong knowledge of transport legislation and O-licence requirements.
IT confident - experience with route planning software (MaxOptra an advantage).
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
Experience producing KPI reports and interpreting operational data.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
