Job Description

The Operations Director will lead and oversee the entire manufacturing operation, ensuring production, quality, maintenance, safety, and efficiency standards are consistently achieved. They will drive operational excellence, optimise resources, and ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time while maintaining profitability and compliance with environmental and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Strategy


-Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals.
-Lead, coach, and develop production, maintenance, and quality teams.
-Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.

Manufacturing & Production


-Oversee day-to-day operations of extrusion, conversion, and packaging lines.
-Ensure production targets are achieved in line with customer demand and specifications.
-Implement lean manufacturing and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Quality & Compliance


-Ensure compliance with BRCGS and relevant industry standards.
-Oversee quality assurance systems to maintain high product standards.
-Monitor and enforce environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Maintenance & Engineering


-Lead the maintenance department to ensure machinery and plant equipment are reliable, safe, and fully operational.
-Develop and implement a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule to minimise downtime.
-Manage engineering projects, upgrades, and capital investments in equipment.
-Ensure rapid response to breakdowns to maintain production continuity.
-Drive continuous improvement in asset care, machine efficiency, and energy usage.

Financial & Supply Chain Management


-Manage operational budgets, cost control, and capital investment planning.
-Oversee raw material procurement and stock control to ensure continuous supply.
-Monitor and report on KPIs, ensuring efficiency and profitability targets are achieved.
-Identify opportunities for automation, waste reduction, and sustainability improvements.

Key Skills & Experience



Proven senior operations/manufacturing leadership experience (preferably in plastics, polythene, or packaging sectors). Strong knowledge of extrusion, conversion, and flexible packaging processes. Excellent understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance. Strong knowledge of maintenance, engineering, and asset management. Commercial awareness with the ability to balance efficiency, cost, and customer satisfaction. Strong people management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 50,000.00-60,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
