LOCATION: Office Base is Wood Norton, Evesham. Worcestershire. Site working is required.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to 53,967 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Please note: This role requires shift working including nights and weekends operating 24/7, 365 days per year. Night payment is applied.





PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


The Centralised Coding & Multiplexing (CCM) team plays a crucial role in encoding and distributing BBC content across TV, radio, and online platforms. We take live signals from Playout and prepare them for delivery to audiences in the UK and internationally. Our work ensures that BBC services are always available, no matter the time or platform.

1 x hour Values Based Interview with technical questions


The role works as part of a shift-working team providing 24 hour operational support, incident management and stakeholder communication for a range of BBC platforms and services.




YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:


As a Broadcast Operations Engineer, you'll be part of a collaborative, shift-based team providing 24/7 operational support. Your responsibilities will include:


Monitoring and supporting BBC applications hosted in on-premise environments. Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues using a range of monitoring tools. Managing incidents from initial report to resolution, including major incidents, while meeting service level agreements (SLAs). Logging and documenting incidents in line with ITIL best practices. Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including during high-impact events. Ensuring clear and thorough handovers between shifts. Contributing to continuous improvement through documentation, process development, and operational tooling.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA





Experience in 1st and 2nd line operations within a professional setting and working with cloud platforms - AWS Knowledge of DVB broadcasting and IP networking. Familiarity with CDNs and on-prem infrastructure, especially VMware. Experience using diagnostic and monitoring tools. A solid understanding of incident prioritisation and ITIL practices.



DESIRED:


Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stake-holders * Command-line experience with Linux (desirable but not essential).
