Job summary


We are seeking a motivated individual with experience in PSV operations to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be involved in ensuring efficient day-to-day coach fleet operations, problem solving, managing drivers and staff, and implementing strategies to maintain and where possible improve standards. This role requires good leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while fostering a positive work environment.

Duties



To support the Operations Manager in the execution of his role, helping to ensure operational effectiveness, efficiency and adherence to company policies. To be first point of contact and lead problem solving as required to address operational coach fleet issues as they arise. To line manage approximately 30 drivers and staff, including assisting in disciplinary processes where necessary To assist in overseeing and managing the driver infringements process To assist the Transport Manager in ensuring compliance with the obligations of our Operators License To investigate and manage insurance claims across the bus fleet To manage bus bodywork damage repair To check interior standards of buses (incl repairs) are being reported as defects To undertake pre/post hire spot checks on bus standards, including compliance To cover the coach out of hours phone line on a rota (one week in 5) and manage breakdowns as required To have responsibility for installing and maintaining working bus camera systems (training provided) To make 'check in' calls to key clients during and post hires To take overall responsibility for driver comms To manage the provision of clean bus linen & laundry for our bus fleet (with line management of 2 members of staff) To manage our response to periodic External Operator License audits and ensure internal O License audits are performed bi-annually Recruitment of new drivers (interviews, driver assessments, references, contracts, etc) Reviewing CPC requirements and recommendations, ensuring bus drivers are compliant To deliver driver training

Skills



An 'on the front foot' proactive attitude and approach Ability to Multi-task Good leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage. Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail. Good problem-solving abilities, capable of making informed decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Good numeracy, as well as good written and spoken English Proficiency in using operational management software and tools (prior experience of Coach Manager and Vehicle Management System would be ideal)

Experience



Proven experience working in PSV coach operations Line management in an operational environment (eg managing drivers) IT competent (Microsoft Office 365 suite, including Word and XL) Prior experience of Coach Manager and Vehicle Management System preferred Logistics and planning - experience in organising complex activities involving multiple stakeholders, departments and locations Health and safety management qualifications - desirable or willing to work towards

Remuneration and hours



Full time position / 40 paid hours per week including breaks

Competitive rate of pay, in line with applicant's experience
