Alongside our maintenance contracts, we provide 24/7 support for any issues that arise, supported by a highly responsive service desk team. This team works closely with our operations managers, service partners, and suppliers to ensure exceptional service delivery.

As an Operations Manager, you will lead and proactively manage your team to ensure the smooth execution of a portfolio of client contracts, meeting client requirements within agreed financial parameters. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, and maintaining high standards across all contracts.

In addition, you will build strong relationships with the broader management team and play an active role in identifying opportunities to enhance the company's service offerings. By being proactive in recognising and securing additional work, you will help drive the company's growth and maximise its revenue potential.

The successful candidate will report to the head of landscaping and will will be responsible for overseeing a variation of sites within our portfolio, spanning the following locations: Midlands



Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Oversee daily operational tasks within your area/client portfolio, including managing subcontractors and team operatives' schedules, completing timesheets, conducting risk assessments, and monitoring overall performance. This includes managing staff performance, addressing disciplinary matters, and ensuring compliance with company goals, regulatory guidelines, health and safety, and environmental regulations. Actively seek out new business opportunities by engaging with potential clients, securing additional works, and offering innovative services to maximise the company's revenue and service potential Attend client meetings, price and quote additional works on current contracts, and maintain regular, professional communication with clients to address issues effectively and uphold the highest standard of service. Assist the Head of Landscaping with new client bids, tenders, and evaluations of service changes, ensuring all financial, staffing, and operational implications are managed effectively to maximise contract margins. Liaise with foremen, ground staff, subcontractors, and the helpdesk to ensure updates and progress of works are accurately recorded and storage areas are well-organised and compliant with relevant regulations. Monitor contract and job expenditures to ensure financial budgets are adhered to, manage forecasting, and submit accurate and timely data, including monthly financial reports demonstrating departmental profit and loss. Ensure depots and yards within your designated area are tidy, well-organised, and comply with all relevant regulations. Actively work to increase the horticultural knowledge of your team by monitoring and proactively managing their training needs. Support the implementation of service changes and innovations while managing associated financial, staffing, and operational implications. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and policies. Perform ad hoc duties as required.

Role Requirements



Proven knowledge and a minimum of 2 years' experience in operational management. Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and employees, supported by strong communication skills. Competent in IT, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to manage financial budgets and forecasting effectively. Capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing situations with flexibility. Proven ability to deliver targets and provide exceptional client service. Experienced in managing both large static sites and mobile teams. Possess strong horticultural knowledge, effective time management, and excellent administrative skills. Hold a full, clean driver's licence.
