Operations Manager (logistics)

Job Description

We're looking for a proactive Operations Manager with strong problem-solving skills and can-do attitude. Operations Manager is a key member of Bastion Logistics' management team, responsible for smooth running of operations and managing a team of drivers.

Specific responsibilities and tasks



(1) Driver Management and Support



Distribute and manage equipment such as van keys, uniforms & scanning devices to drivers and ensure drivers have functional equipment at all times. Support drivers with departures and ensure smooth running of daily operations. Communicate and solve issues with drivers and report to depot management and analyse issues on routes. Assess and arrange support to any route that is at risk. Arrange and deliver appropriate training (incl. doorstepping/ health & safety). Onboarding training and induction for new drivers.

(2) Fleet Management and Vehicle Checks



Conduct regular van checks - check for vehicle damage & van equipment Arrange for fleet repairs and periodic service appointments Keep track of allocated fleet (MOT, mileage etc) Van pick-ups and drop-offs

(3) Administration



Log driver working hours and update payment sheet daily. Attend meetings with clients and depot staff. Keep track of distributed and returned uniforms & equipment. Ensure drivers sign onboarding paperwork prior to deployment. Arrange and roster driver for shifts. Report and assist with all incidents and traffic accidents.

(4) Other



Deliver parcels as and when required. Support driver recruitment processes (incl. conduct interviews, arrange ride-alongs and classroom training). Take part in regular internal meetings and perform additional tasks, consistent with the skills and expertise of the post-holder, as requested by the Managing Director or HR Manager. Essential knowledge, skills and experience



Ability to drive a van (incl. manual) with confidence. Ability to work with PCs, incl. MS Office and different delivery softwares and smartphone apps. Experience with managing a team of diverse people. Ability to work under pressure and fulfil targets. Problem-solving attitude and ability to work in a high-paced environment. Attention to details to ensure deliveries are completed as per the correct process. Dedication, commitment and loyalty. Team player with a can-do attitude. Experience from a logistics background is an advantage.

Right to work in the UK and over 18 years of age. Be able to commute to and from our delivery station in north London (Wembley). Willingness to engage with us on a self-employed basis. Be able to lift heavy parcels.
