Job description

What is the overall purpose of the role?

? Responsible for day-to-day management of a mixed-use building which includes commercial and community hire as well as youth services. Through your team, this post plays a key role in delivering our business objectives as well as the efficient and smooth running of the building ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Key activities and responsibilities

? Line management of operational staff including rotas, planned and unplanned absence, staff performance, development and delegation

? Work with Isledon colleagues to grow income through venue hire and catering, continuously improving standards and customer satisfaction through excellent service

? Ensure spending (projects, repairs, service contracts, consumables and staffing) is within budget with focus on reducing costs, waste and environmental impact where possible

? Support the bookings team in attracting new business through proactive initiatives including outreach, promotional events and social media

? Implement all policies and procedures, manage risk assessments, ensuring a safe environment for staff, young people, clients and visitors

? Manage all matters of planned preventative and reactive maintenance. Work with external contactors for minor repairs where necessary, ensuring all procedures are followed including but not limited to issuing permits to work and reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)

? Ensure all matters of corporate compliance are adhered to, record keeping and reporting non-conformances to the Head of Operations

? Ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and housekeeping are always delivered within the building and grounds

? Cultivate excellent relationships with internal department leads and continuously identify and implement improvements in systems, processes and services

? Manage relationships with stakeholders, partner organisations and clients, providing highest standard of service, clear communications and a positive attitude

? Support initiatives designed to support young people in the workplace. Deliver and support First Works principles though the businesses operations and wider initiatives

? Act as a role model for young people, inspiring them to engage in the services and understand and appreciate the world of facilities management

? Assist the Head of Operations in the recruitment of operational and catering staff Operations Manager and Personal Specification 2

? Act as primary contact for the hub, dealing with issues personally or referring them to the appropriate person, department or organisation

? Act as duty manager when required and any other duties as would be expected of an operations manager in a youth hub

2 Education, qualifications or experience

2.1 Experienced in facility management with a broad knowledge of health and safety and building maintenance

2.2 Experience in event management

2.3 Experience in management of people

2.4 A first aid at work qualification is desirable

2.5 Experience working with young people is desirable

2.6 Experience of supporting clients with IT set ups is desirable

3 Knowledge, skills, and abilities

3.1 Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise effectively and enjoy multi-tasking and working to deadlines in a busy fast-changing environment

3.2 Good administrative skills with experience in a range of software and systems

3.3 Good financial acumen, commercially aware with ability to work within budgets and ensure value for money

3.4 Good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders both internally and externally

3.5 Effective with delegation, time management and motivation of a small operational team

3.6 Ability to write reports, letters and social media posts

3.7 Open to new ideas and working with other organisations in a spirit of partnership

3.8 A believer in strongly supportive environments, sharing and being open with colleagues

3.9 A working understanding of safeguarding children and young people and how to maintain appropriate professional boundaries

3.10 A working understanding of equality and diversity with the ability to challenge discriminatory behaviour

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: Up to 33,000.00 per year
