As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in managing the overall performance, maintenance and repair of the grain elevator at our Kegworth, Saskatchewan location. The Operations Manager will oversee quality control measures on incoming and outgoing shipments and the maintenance and compliance of a safe working environment as well as supervise all of the facility assistants at the location.

Your day to day activities will include:

  • Supervising the daily operation of the grain elevator;
  • Managing the quality control & blending of grain;
  • Supervising Facility Assistants to ensure day to day business needs are executed safely, efficiently and profitably;
  • Managing the facility safety program and actively working to create a strong safety culture;
  • Overseeing food safety compliance;
  • Managing regular maintenance, scheduling and repair on facility equipment;
  • Supporting the procurement of grain and sales of crop inputs;
  • Ensure responsible business practices are followed consistently.
The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:
  • 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the operation of a grain elevator and/or crop inputs retail location;
  • Sound knowledge of elevator equipment and processes pertaining to shipping/receiving, collecting and grading grain samples, and effective product storage management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to meet deadlines, solve problems and implement solutions to meet or exceed goals set for the operations;
  • Strong written and verbal communication;
  • Practical knowledge in mechanical repair;
  • Effective decision-making and problem solving skills;
  • Competency in grading canola, wheat, durum, oats and barley;
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required for record keeping.
