An opportunity to work for Abbotts Event Hire, a well-established family company hiring a variety of items from Plates & Glasses to Furniture & Kitchen Equipment to Refrigerated Trailers & Luxury Toilets for Weddings, Parties and Festivals across the Southwest.

We're looking for a hands-on, adaptable, and resilient Operations Manager to join forces with our current Op's Manager, as the company continues to expand and the customer base grows.

Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating all aspects of the company's operational activities, including planning, logistics, warehouse management, equipment maintenance, and transport operations.

Acting as a key link between the MD, sales and operations, this role ensures smooth workflows, high service standards, and operational efficiency.

The Operations Manager leads and develops the warehouse and delivery teams, maintains health and safety compliance, manages equipment and vehicle readiness, and provides hands-on support when needed to meet client expectations and business objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities

Planning & Logistics



Oversee operational planning, scheduling deliveries, collections, and resources efficiently.

Coordinate team members and act as the main link between sales and operations to maintain smooth communication.

Provide options and solutions to the MD, highlighting stock or operational issues promptly.

Manage high-profile or complex events to ensure client expectations are met.

Step in to drive vehicles or trailers when required.

Oversee sub-hire operations and relationships with external suppliers.

Warehouse Operations



Manage warehouse and delivery teams to ensure safe, efficient performance.

Train and onboard staff, maintaining compliance with health and safety, including COSHH regulations.

Ensure all processes uphold company standards for quality, cleanliness, and organisation.

Support with order picking, vehicle loading, and warehouse upkeep.

Equipment & Maintenance



Oversee maintenance and compliance of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.

Ensure all items are clean, safe, and ready for delivery, including luxury toilets.

Manage breakdowns and recoveries to minimise disruption.

Transport



Ensure compliance with operator's licence standards, vehicle checks, tachograph records, and driver hours.

Coordinate vehicle maintenance and support logistics as needed, including driving when required.

Team Management



Act as primary contact between the MD and operations, communicating clearly and delegating effectively.

Monitor team performance and adherence to safety and company procedures.

Key Holder & Security



Act as key holder, ensuring premises and equipment are securely locked and alarmed.

Requirements:

Full Driving & Official Trailer Licence

HGV licence - Preferred

Reliable

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 35,000.00 per year
