We are seeking an operations manager who will be responsible for the efficient and safe day-to-day management of both transport and warehouse operations. You will ensure that company service levels are consistently achieved while striving to exceed customer expectations. The role also involves maintaining compliance with all company policies, health and safety standards, and legal and regulatory requirements.





You will lead and develop the transport and warehouse teams, ensuring all employees are aware of expectations, policies, and procedures, and are managed fairly in line with company guidelines.

Roles and Responsibilities:






Transport Operations:




Manage the transport elements and vehicle fleet to ensure adherence to the transport plan and operational requirements. Ensure compliance with O-Licence requirements and transport-related regulations. Support with route planning, resource allocation, and driver supervision to optimize efficiency. Monitor transport KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed to meet service level agreements (SLAs). Ensure collection of deliveries by drivers


Warehouse Operations:




Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations, including inbound, picking, and outbound activities. Manage a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring productivity and minimizing costs. Ensure inventory accuracy and maintain alignment with customer requirements. Adhere to and enforce BRC accreditation and Health & Safety standards within the warehouse. Monitor and report on warehouse KPIs, taking corrective actions to drive improvement.


Leadership and Team Management:




Provide clear leadership to both transport and warehouse teams, delegating responsibilities effectively. Manage absence, performance, and HR-related issues in line with company policies. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Act as a role model, inspiring teams to achieve and exceed targets.


Compliance and Risk Management:




Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies. Maintain a safe working environment, addressing potential risks proactively. Monitor and enforce adherence to processes and procedures across both functions.




Skills and Experience:






Proven experience managing both transport and warehouse operations. Knowledge of transport legal compliance and warehouse standards (e.g., BRC accreditation). Operational knowledge of food logistics is desirable. Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development and performance management. Proficiency in MS Office and transport/warehouse management systems (WMS).
