Cheltenham Lido is looking to appoint an Operations Supervisor to help drive the efficient and effective running of the facility.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this key role forms part of the Lido's core management team and carries commercial and operational responsibility across a wide range of business areas typically associated with a well-regarded and much-loved public venue.
The Operations Supervisor will oversee staff scheduling, the delivery of our swimming lessons and fitness class programmes, stock control for operations, and the hygiene and cleanliness of the facility. They will also be responsible for ensuring the safe day-to-day operation of the Lido. In addition, they will manage the financial budgets within their areas of responsibility.
Strong communication skills and previous experience as a Duty Manager within the leisure industry are essential. Holding an NPLQ is essential, as well as Level 1 and 2 Swim Teaching qualifications, would be highly advantageous.

The Role:
We are seeking to appoint an Operations Supervisor to support the General Manager and help drive the efficient, safe, and effective running of the Lido. This is a key leadership role within the Management Team, offering the opportunity to influence and improve core operations in a distinctive leisure environment. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and customer-focused leisure services. You will supervise frontline staff, support service delivery, and uphold health and safety standards, contributing to an engaging and welcoming environment for all members and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily operation of the pool and reception areas.
Lead and motivate a team of lifeguards, front of house staff and general attendants.
Staff scheduling and rota management
Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and operational procedures, including emergency action plans and risk assessments
Oversee the safeguarding and be in the position to act as Designated safeguard lead
Oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of the facility, reporting and resolving issues promptly.
Monitor and manage bookings, equipment use, and customer flow to ensure efficient and smooth service.
Support staff training, development, and performance reviews in collaboration with the management team.
Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and solution-focused manner.
Operations-related stock control and supply management
Financial budget control for operational areas
Act as a key holder and take responsibility for opening/closing the facility and ensuring site security.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous management experience in a leisure environment.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a leisure setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle emergencies with confidence.
Experience working with booking systems or management software.
Qualifications:
RLSS NPLQ National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) Essential
Pool Plant Operator - Essential
ASA Level 1 and 2 Swimming Teacher qualifications - Desirable
RLSS Trainer Assessor - Desirable
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Some physical duties may be required (e.g., setting up equipment, poolside supervision)
