Responsibilities
Assist the
Cutting Plant Manager
in planning, coordinating, and controlling the production schedule to meet quality and delivery targets.
Ensure adherence to animal welfare, ethical sourcing, and sustainability standards.
Supervise daily production operations, including butcher lines, curing, trimming, packaging, and cold chain integrity.
Support the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance programs, including HACCP, SALSA, and other regulatory standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize yield, reduce waste, and improve process efficiency.
Lead, train, and develop production teams to ensure performance, accountability, and skill development.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, yield, downtime, and quality metrics.
Collaborate with quality assurance, logistics, and sales teams to ensure seamless product flow and customer satisfaction.
Assist with inventory management, procurement coordination, and supplier communications under direction of the Cutting Plant Manager.
Support budget management, cost control, and improvement project proposals.
Requirements
Proven experience in production or operations supervision within meat processing, food manufacturing, or a similarly regulated environment.
Strong leadership and people-management skills, with a hands-on approach to team motivation.
In-depth knowledge of HACCP, SALSA, GMP, and safety regulations.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Data-driven approach; proficient in Microsoft Office.
Understanding of EPOS Bureau.
Understanding of Welsh and UK food industry regulations.
Degree or equivalent experience in Food Science, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Experience
Proven experience in a supervisory role within the food production industry is essential.
Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations.
Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
Basic math skills for inventory management and production reporting.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with team members and management.
