Job Overview



To direct, manage and motivate a team of field-based Catering Managers and Unit Teams to produce maximum returns from all contracts. You will need to have a complete understanding of all Operational responsibilities, within your allocated portfolio and sector.

Main Accountabilities & Responsibilities



Customer Service:

To own and resolve any operating issues in a professional and efficient manner.

To promote the Company in a positive manner when dealing with internal and external customers or at any other opportunity.

To ensure that personal presentation and profile is such that it reflects positively upon the Company.

To ensure that all staff employed within the designated region complies with laid down rules and procedures regarding standards of personal presentation and performance.

To respond positively, promptly and appropriately to all customer requests.

To promote the concept of teamwork to enhance business opportunities and achievement.

To ensure that customer service in all areas is carried out in line with Company standards and results in 'customer delight'.

Operational:

To achieve your portfolio operating profits, gross revenues and stock exception targets as set down and agreed with your line manager in line with the annual budget.

To provide outstanding leadership, management, direction and support and to set tasks for the Catering Managers within their designated region.

To maximise business opportunities within each area, identifying new products and/or operating practices and introducing or implementing these as appropriate subjects to approval by your Line Manager.

To monitor competitor activity in and around each area within the designated region providing suitable intelligence to your Line Manager by report on a periodic basis and propose pre-emptive/reactive strategies.

To identify potential new business and relay information to your Line Manager. To ensure all Catering Managers are supplying a constant amount of lead generation. All potential new business in the region is identified and passed on.

To carry out regular customer relationship meetings identifying current service levels, innovation and problem solving.

To report formally to your Line Manager (as agreed) - progress within your portfolio. Ensure all key accounts are regularly visited, monitored and clients kept informed of progress.

To oversee the Catering Managers' work schedules and to continually monitor their supervisory skills, administration, progression, and working to agreed standards of output and quality and fully trained to undertake their responsibilities.

Ensure Operational activities are regularly reported, contingency plans discussed, problems identified and decisions offered. These reports will feature: visit monitoring, staffing, equipment, supplies, standards of work and audits, skills of the team, potential staffing problems and liaison with clients

To help Catering Managers with problem solving in situations requiring greater authority and decision making.

Ensure your Line Manager receives all necessary information on time.

To ensure that all necessary contract amendments, adjustments are dealt with promptly and using the correct procedure.

To plan and report all periodic deep clean work.

To ensure that no contracts are terminated through bad service No more than 10% of regional portfolio value in any one year.

To ensure the business is run in the most profitable manner and to make cost savings as required reviewing profit and loss on a regular basis.

To effectively manage client relationships and support appropriately the performance of direct reports to deliver the same.

Recommend appropriate action to maximize additional opportunities through effective knowledge of services/products available and make recommendations for service and supplementary upgrades.

To ensure you are competent in budget planning, GP control and monitor your accounts on a weekly basis ensuring all CM's/UM' are aware of the Units current targets and actual performance.

Security:

To be responsible for all security matters/incidents/cash handling affecting the designated portfolio and drawing on the expertise of the Company's Security Consultant only in extremis.

To ensure that Catering Managers within the designated portfolio adhere strictly to security policy and procedures as set by the Company.

To make recommendations to your Line Manager for amendments to Company security policies and procedures as necessary.

To ensure that all Company property is removed from Catering Managers or staff who exit the Company.

Health & Safety:

To ensure adherence to, at all times, the Health and Safety of all employees together with those members of the public frequenting company premises within the designated portfolio.

To adhere to all company health and safety practices and procedures, ensuring employees operate company units in a safe manner and in the event of health and safety issues, arising; appropriate action is taken through the Company's Health and Safety Representative or other appropriate agencies.

To ensure that risk assessments are kept up-to-date and regularly review of risk assessments and liaison with Health & Safety/Human Resources.

Take total responsibility via the Catering Managers that all EHO requirements are in place, followed and managed at all times.

Ensure within your portfolio all HSEQ/Training requirements are carried out in the given deadlines and communicated in an effective manner.

You will ensure that all training records are kept up to date and recorded via our central systems.

Corporate Responsibility:

To adhere to all company Social Responsibility practices and procedures. In the event of any Social Responsibility issues arising, ensure appropriate action is taken through the company representative or other appropriate agencies.

Administration & Company Property:

To compile and produce a periodic report on all controlled activities within the designated region for submission to your Line Manager as requested.

To ensure any Company equipment issued to the jobholder is maintained in good condition and working order and is properly accounted for.

To submit expense claims in accordance with levels dictated by the Company to your Line Manager for approval on a periodic basis.

Human Resources:

To operate within agreed manning levels for each location within the designated region as laid down in the Company's work force plan.

To liaise with the Human Resources Department to identify recruitment and training needs as necessary.

To take responsibility for the recruitment of all management roles within the designated region, ensuring that applicants both successful and unsuccessful are handled in accordance with current legislative requirements and Company policy.

To conduct all disciplinary and grievance procedures relating to Catering Managers/Unit Teams ensuring current legislative requirements and Company policies are adhered to.

To ensure Catering Managers apply appropriate course of action regarding disciplinary and grievance procedures in close conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

To ensure all staff employed within the designated region attend and complete the appropriate induction and modular training programmes within the designated timescales.

To ensure that the Company's Equal Opportunities Policy is adhered to at all times, and to actively discourage harassment, bullying, victimisation or discrimination of any kind against employees, management or customers on the grounds of sex, race, disability, age or religion etc.

To review Catering Managers at the end of the specified induction period.

To conduct annual performance appraisals for all Catering Managers and ensure training needs are identified and managed and resolved.

To authorise and maintain planned and unplanned absence records for all Catering Managers/Unit Teams within the designated region, notifying the HR/Payroll Dept. accordingly and instructing disciplinary action where necessary.

To ensure DBS and Vetting requirements are met.

To ensure all staff are eligible for working in the UK and provide all correct documentation when joining with the company.

To ensure all vacancies are fulfilled by supporting and guiding the Catering Managers through this process and completing second interviews where necessary.

To ensure Catering Managers follow the company's 'Disciplinary and Grievance' policies and procedures and keep you informed of all cases prior to action.

Recruit, manage and train Catering Managers/Unit Team Members and ensure they work at optimum performance levels.

Ensure morale is kept at a high level.

Marketing/Promotional Activities:

To agree local national marketing/promotional activities with your Line Manager ensuring we tap into all media streams within our customers' capacity - i.e. Twitter/Media TV's etc.

To implement and manage contract launches/fresher days maximising as much additional revenue as possible.

To manage and implement Marketing Packs/Theme Days/Special Days/Campaigns are delivered at Units in line with Marketing Planner.

To periodically review marketing/promotional plans for each unit within the designated region in conjunction with your Line Manager.

Communication:

To attend all management meetings when invited.

To undertake team briefings on a period basis, ensuring appropriate records are maintained.

To conduct Catering Managers periodic business review meetings (1:1) on agreed dates ensuring details are accurately recorded and retained for performance appraisal purposes throughout the year.

To manage all customer requirements and complaints when received in a timely fashion, giving clear deadlines of completion.

General:

Person Specification



You will demonstrate, amongst other things, your ability in the following:

Previous management experience, desirably 2 years' experience within a Catering and Business to Business environment.
