Job overview
The busy Ophthalmology department at Epsom and St Helier Trust has an exciting opportunity for 2 full-time administrators/ receptionists. These roles are predominantly based at St Helier Hospital but will involve cross-site cover of our busy ophthalmology reception desks at both hospitals in addition to working in the administration pod at St Helier Hospital.
This role provides high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and strong teamwork. The post holder will support administrative functions relating to our patients' care pathways including answering telephones, booking new and follow up appointments, monitoring the outpatient waiting list and working on the reception desks as required. This is an exciting role working with a large team of healthcare professionals and is an excellent first step for someone interested in pursuing a career in the NHS.
Main duties of the job
If you are an experienced IT literate administrator or receptionist with excellent customer service skills seeking a fresh challenge in a fast-paced, friendly service, this could be your role.
Duties are varied and include checking in emergency and elective patients; booking and rescheduling appointments and minor surgeries; arranging diagnostic tests; answering telephones; monitoring waiting lists, and other administrative functions. The office core hours are between 8 am - 6 pm Monday to Friday.
