Applications are encouraged from people who are under-represented in the union. We actively encourage women, Ethnically Diverse/Global Majority Heritage, Disabled and LGBT+ people to apply.
GMB Scotland serves a large and diverse landscape and membership; the region is seeking applications from committed individuals to join their team as
Organising Assistants
.
GMB is one of Britain's largest trade unions; we're proud to represent over half a million people from across the professional spectrum and all walks of life.
The successful postholders will be actively engaged in supporting GMB Scotland to build and grow our membership by assisting the union's officers to identify unorganised workplaces for recruitment and assist them in the recruitment and retention of members.
It should be noted that the successful postholders may be required to work from other locations or offices across GMB Scotland outside of their base of work, as part of the role. The hours of work are unspecified and will therefore require flexibility on working hours, which may include elements of early mornings, late evenings and weekend working. Some periods of working away from home may also be required.
The successful candidates will:
Possess a flexible attitude and a full range of organising, recruitment and administrative skills as outlined in the job description.
Be able to work on their own initiative to undertake duties in a professional and efficient manner.
Have an understanding of the GMB Union, other Trade Unions as well as commitment to the wider Trade Union and Labour Movement.
Applicants must be prepared to work as a team, and the successful candidate would display strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in challenging environments.
On a personal basis, the applicants would need to display energy, enthusiasm, resilience, commitment, and an ability to use initiative.
We're looking for someone who possesses the ability to work well independently but is also a real team player.
In return, we offer excellent terms and benefits, including:
Final Salary Pension Scheme
Employee Assistance Programme
Childcare Assistance Scheme
Season Ticket Loan
Cycle to Work Scheme
Generous holiday allowance
Eye Care claim back Scheme
Annual Leave Purchase Scheme
Annual Health Check
This is a varied and interesting role; if you think you may be who we're looking for and if you feel you meet the criteria outlined in the person specification of the attached job description, we'd like to hear from you.
Please note:
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered, so please ensure you have completed all sections of the application form (including referee details) and submitted no later than the specified deadline.
