We are looking for a professional, compassionate, and skilled
Orthodontic Therapist
to join our growing team. Working under the instruction and prescription of a Specialist Orthodontist, you will be instrumental in delivering effective orthodontic care and ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction throughout the treatment process.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Fit, adjust, and remove fixed and removable orthodontic appliances as prescribed
Prepare teeth for bonding and safely bond orthodontic brackets and attachments
Handle arch wires, elastics, and auxiliaries
Provide detailed oral hygiene and appliance care instructions to patients
Assess patient progress and report any concerns or deviations to the orthodontist
Carry out emergency appointments for orthodontic appliance issues (e.g., broken brackets, poking wires)
Administrative and Record-Keeping
Maintain clear and accurate clinical notes and documentation
Manage and update patient treatment plans in digital systems (Orthotrac)
Liaise with reception and treatment coordinators to ensure smooth patient scheduling
Communicate effectively with patients, parents/guardians, and other dental professionals
Monitor stock levels of orthodontic materials and request supplies as needed
Compliance and Safety
Comply with GDC standards, cross-infection control, and health & safety protocols
Ensure all instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilised, and stored correctly
Stay up to date with clinical best practices and practice policies
Report any incidents, clinical issues, or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate person
Team and Practice Involvement
Attend and contribute to regular clinical and team meetings
Participate in ongoing CPD and internal training initiatives
Support and mentor junior staff, student therapists, or new team members where appropriate
Promote the practice's ethos and reputation in all interactions with patients and visitors
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy (approved by the GDC)
Current and active GDC registration as an Orthodontic Therapist
CPD record in line with GDC and CQC requirements
Experience in a private/NHS/mixed orthodontic setting (preferred)

Contract Details
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday, and 6.25 hours on a Friday.
