We are seeking a qualified and motivated Orthodontic Therapist to join our experienced and friendly team on a part-time basis.
You will work
2 days per week
under the
supervision of a GDC-registered Orthodontic Specialist
, delivering high-quality orthodontic care in a supportive and professional clinical environment. Our mixed NHS and private practice uses current digital technology, and is working towards a paperless environment.
In this role you will help to continue the delivery of excellent orthodontic services while ensuring a positive patient rapport and experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a caring and collaborative environment, with a highly skilled group of clinicians and an experienced administrative team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide orthodontic treatment under the prescription of an Orthodontic Specialist
Fit, adjust, and remove fixed orthodontic appliances, as well as fit removable appliances and retainers.
Bond and debond brackets / molar bands and change archwires, place and remove attachments, power chains, elastics, and auxiliaries
Take intra-oral scans, clinical photographs, and orthodontic records.
Provide oral hygiene instructions and appliance care advice to patients
Monitor treatment progress and report findings to the supervising specialist
Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records in line with GDC standards
Ensure strict compliance with infection control, cross-infection, and HTM guidelines
Work collaboratively with orthodontists, nurses, and reception staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Requirements
GDC-registered Orthodontic Therapist (essential)
2 years of clinical orthodontic therapy experience preferred
Confident working with fixed and removable appliances, as well as aligner systems
Excellent communication and patient-management skills
High standards of professionalism, ethics, and clinical care
Ability to work efficiently under specialist supervision
Job Type: Part-time (Wednesdays and Fridays preferable)
Pay: 26.00-30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week

Responsibilities
Assist orthodontists during clinical sessions, running a parallel list to the specialist.
Prepare patients for treatment by taking vital signs, medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly.
Take and manage dental records and documentation using I-tero scanners, digital x-rays /cameras and specialist practice software, including Dental Monitoring.
Support infection control protocols by maintaining aseptic techniques according to established guidelines.
Provide patient education on orthodontic care, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results.
Collaborate with the nursing team to enhance efficiency during orthodontic procedures
Support the reception team in scheduling appointments and managing patient flow, through our specialist practice software.
Experience
Proven experience working in a specialist practice / hospital department, with familiarity in all orthodontic therapist procedures.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
Hands-on experience with patient management software.
Familiarity with medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures specific orthodontic settings.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly and compassionately to patients of all ages.
