Out Of Hours Veterinary Surgeon

Cardiff, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

At PDSA, we are excited to be introducing a new Out of Hours (OOH) service at our Cardiff Pet Hospital - but this is not a normal OOH role!

Your wellbeing and work life balance is our top priority so we are making sure that there is a strong team supporting you and that the caseload remains truly manageable for you and your colleagues.

It is also important to us that you are able to work safely in this role so there are comprehensive safe ways of working in place with all the guidance, support and equipment you need to do your job successfully while protecting you, colleagues and clients.

We want you to stay in this role and grow with it as it develops in PDSA so we are looking for an experienced Vet Surgeon with a particular interest in emergency and critical care work. It is also important that you are motivated to help develop and support Vet Students who, at times, will be supporting this service.

This really is a unique opportunity for someone. Unique because we have;

A predictable rota allowing time for other interests Regular breaks built in to the shift and you really do finish on time A pragmatic, quality approach driven by the pet's needs not by commission or income targets Emergency cases only allowing exposure to wide range of clinical challenges No booked routine appointments on shift A controlled and manageable caseload with clients from both charitable and private practices

Cardiff Pet Hospital is well equipped with a friendly and welcoming team who support each other whatever happens on shift - providing support is critical to the team whether that's a coffee, a break or doing something silly for charity!

Other benefits of working at PDSA include:

Allocated CPD support and funding RCVS / VDS fees paid in full Contributory Pension Scheme Staff Car Parking Life assurance - 4 x annual salary

So, if you want to join an amazing team and make a real difference to clients and their pets when they need you most, we would love to hear from you.

PDSA is committed to embedding a culture of diversity and inclusion within our teams that reflect the communities we serve. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies and opportunity for flexible working arrangements to support team members from different backgrounds.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss via email or telephone reasonable adjustments that you may require throughout the recruitment process.
