We are seeking an assistant or supervisor to work in our Outdoor Dry Goods department.
This department looks after Non Plant products sold from our outside areas.
The role will involve providing customer service, merchandising and re-stocking products, acquiring product knowledge and linking sales to other Garden Centre departments.
Responsibilities
Working within a small team, you will need to maintain retail standards and service levels in this department.
You will need to be physically fit as the role involves working with relatively heavy and bulky products such as Compost, Pots, Stoneware and bagged aggregates.
Utilise time management skills to carry out tasks effectively as you will be regularly working alone.
You will also have some responsibility supervising the weekend and seasonal staff who work in this area.
You will need to be flexible in your approach to this role. You will need to be willing to work in other departments when your department is quiet, this particularly involves working in the Christmas department between October and January.
You will need to be practical as this role also involves liaising with other departments such as Furniture to assemble products.
Experience
Garden Centre, Retail or Builders merchant experience is preferrable, but not essential.
Previous use of Forklift trucks and Pallet trucks are preferrable but not essential.
The role would ideally involve working a five day week between Sunday and Thursday. Working alternate weekends would be the minimum requirement.
