Part time, 18.5 hours per week
As the Outputs and Data Officer, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of processes to support open access research publications and data at the University of Winchester. You will be responsible for quality-checking publications' metadata created by academic and administrative users of the Winchester research repository and ensuring that outputs are shared in accordance with requirements, such as governing funders' policies for open access; publishers' self-archiving policies and national research policy developments. Data cleansing of existing records will be an on-going function of the role, along with provision of support and expert advice (via email, telephone, online and face-to-face as appropriate) to users of the institutional repository and to the Research and Innovation (R&I) Directorate. You will also provide training and development opportunities to members of the University community as a whole, supporting a culture of open research.
You will be part of the R&I Centre that brings together the research and innovation activities of the University. It provides a lean and effective infrastructure to enable the University to achieve a culture in which the generation and exchange of knowledge are central to the work of the University.
As our ideal candidate you will have significant experience of working in a library environment, have practical knowledge of bibliographic records/metadata, and knowledge of copyright and licensing issues relating to scholarly publishing. In addition, you will be familiar with developments in the sector around open access publication, open research and data, and have a good understanding of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and the role of outputs in maximising research impact.
