Ensuring that the rough sleeper outreach service is supporting those sleeping rough quickly, targeting new and entrenched rough sleepers and focusing on proactive signposting, assisting direct access accommodation options, health interventions, and liaising with agencies to support rough sleepers' welfare needs.
Working alongside the vital homelessness network across East Riding this role will be pivotal in linking the most marginalised rough sleepers into short term/ more sustainable accommodation. This role involves including Emmaus companions and volunteers to become effective outreach team members, ensuring collectively that East riding is well covered, teams are visible and proactive in all activities. All Emmaus staff support companions and volunteers included within the service in terms of enhancing development and learning.
Accountabilities
Report to funders through weekly reports
Report to designated Emmaus team manager daily
Develop and build positive relationships with agencies across the city supporting homelessness
Support people on the streets or in appropriate setting
Keep concise and accurate information on all activities
Demonstrate work with case studies
Link rough sleepers with available provision, reduce nights on the streets
Work within the agreed strategy for each client including when identified enforcement actions are taking place
Maintain good communication with all relevant partners including statutory agencies and voluntary partners
Ensure data collection is accurate and comprehensive
Ensure Health and Safety is maintained
Use all Emmaus social media platforms to promote the visibility and work of the outreach team
Respond to alerts and communicate outcomes where appropriate
General
Adhere to Emmaus Hull and East Riding policies and procedures at all times
Cover for the other members of the team as necessary
Being proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development
Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff
Attend and participate in training and team meetings as required
Attend strategic meetings and public events where appropriate
Support companions with learning, progression and mentoring
Support appeals, campaigns and charity events
Essential Requirements
Experience of engaging vulnerable people experiencing complex multiple needs
Experience of multi-disciplinary agency working, including enforcement agencies
Driving license
Experience of encouraging marginalised people to access support
Preferred Outreach experience.
Skills, knowledge and Abilities
Ability to communicate across a range of audiences, clients, colleagues, statutory and voluntary partners
A solid working knowledge of homelessness provision
A working knowledge of action planning for clients on a longer-term basis.
Administrative skills including capability to use a range of IT applications, Excel, word, Power Point and Outlook
An understanding of the needs of street homeless people, and the issues which affect them
Knowledge and awareness of street outreach practices and models used to engage rough sleepers
A clean current driving license
An understanding and commitment to Diversity and Equality
Willingness and ability to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements.

The role will involve working with companions and in the community, then the role will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check carried out. This is to check the criminal records and that the person is not barred from working with 'adults at risk'. Some companions can be classed as adults at risk.
