Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Are you passionate about driving improvement and making a measurable impact in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We're looking for a Packaging Engineer to join a leading manufacturing business on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting site initiatives that drive sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.
About the Role
Working closely with production and engineering teams, you'll play a key role in delivering packaging and process improvements across the site. From trialling new materials and packaging formats to supporting capital investment projects and embedding continuous improvement tools, your work will directly contribute to the site's performance and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities

• Support and lead packaging and engineering trials aligned with innovation and sustainability projects.
• Collaborate with production teams, suppliers and OEMs to identify and implement value-driven improvements.
• Use CI tools (e.g., 5S, A3, Fishbone, 5 WHYs) to embed best practices and efficiency gains.
• Optimise factory layouts and contribute to improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Manage contractors and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and food hygiene standards.
• Provide technical input into packaging development and ensure alignment with ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.

What You'll Bring

• A degree in a science-related discipline (preferred) and 2+ years' experience in packaging within the food or drink industry.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage teams across all levels.
• Knowledge of packaging processes including bottle manufacture, filling, labelling, and palletisation.
• Experience using continuous improvement methodologies to drive performance.
• Proactive, self-motivated and capable of delivering under pressure with minimal supervision.
