PAINT SPRAYER (HEAVY STRUCTURAL)

The role:

we have an exciting opportunity for a Paint Sprayer (Heavy Structural) to join our team. As a Paint Sprayer, you will play an active role in the day-to-day operations of the Spray Shop, ensuring that all structural components are surface treated to the correct specifications, with deadlines met in line with the requirements and instructions of any Spray Shop Lead, Workshop Supervisor(s) and/or Workshop Foreman/Manager. This will require the ability to work accurately, efficiently and to instruction.

The Responsibilities of the role:

the main responsibilities of the role will include, but not necessarily be limited to: -

Undertake all Paint Spraying operations for heavy Structural Steel components, using airless spray machinery/techniques under the general direction of the Paint Shop Lead, or that of any Workshop Supervisor(s) / Workshop Foreman/Manager. Namely, but not necessarily exhaustive of: -

To read and clearly understand all surface treatment requirements portrayed either through drawing information, itemised list format, and/or through direct notation(s) on components.



To undertake and record daily atmospheric conditions/dew point readings prior to application.



To assist with the distribution of components within the Spray Shop, to maximise output whilst maintaining adequate segregation allowing satisfactory surface treatment applications.



To undertake all pre-spray checks of components to ensure that the correct blast profile had been achieved in consideration of the surface treatment specification being applied, and to blow-down all surfaces to remove any deposits prior to application.



To select the correct surface treatments for application and mix to the correct ratios, all as necessary and in line with manufacturers recommendations/guidance.



To undertake all strip coating of components in line with manufacturers recommendations/guidance and good practices.



To apply the correct surface treatments product/specification to components observing the required wet film thicknesses (WFT) and dry film thicknesses (DFT) and 'pot life' of the products being applied.



To undertake and record all required product batch numbers, WFT and DFT readings in line with the Company's and/or project specific QA procedures.



To assist with the distribution of components from the Spray Shop, once the surface treatments have suitably cured, to the loading area ready for dispatch.



To clean down machinery and the working area, all as required, to maintain the integrity, efficiency and longevity of the spray plant, and to always provide a clean and tidy working environment.



To always be punctual giving due respect and regard to all other employees of the Company.



To comply always with the Company's policies and procedures.



To comply always with the Health and Safety documentation presented (including COSHH) and to undertake all daily tasks in strict compliance with Safe Working Procedures (SWPs') and Risk Assessments (RA's).



To undertake any other task(s) as reasonably requested by senior management.



What you will need:

the successful candidate will, ideally, have previous experience within the heavy structural steelwork industry in the role of a Paint Sprayer applying the Sherwin Williams Marine and Protective suite of products. Accreditation for the application of the Firetex (FX) range of products would be a distinct advantage although not essential. Full training would be offered as necessary. This is a challenging role, so will ideally suit a confident and ambitious individual who has the ability to work as part of a team within a busy Spray Shop environment.
