About the role





Painter and Decorator required for unique role within vibrant care Homes



This permanent role allows the right candidate with the correct skills to make a difference to people who live and work in our care homes. This role requires a skilled Painter / Decorator working across two homes in Leek and Stone. Some travel to Stockport will occasionally be required but the majority of the work will be Leek and Stone. The role involves Painting and Decorating, preventative maintenance and minor property repairs with an aptitude for problem solving.




KEY TASKS OF THE POST




Redecorating all areas in the homes on a rolling programme as directed by the maintenance supervisor and property manager

Undertake minor maintenance and repair work associated with the home as required by the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager

Work in cooperation with the home manager and staff to plan and manage the safety of the residents staff and visitors while works take place

Manage the assignment of works to outside contractors via the in-house repairs system. Training provided.

Monitoring of the works undertaken by outside contractors



Expectations





The candidate must be able to demonstrate previous experience of painting and decorating in a commercial environment and or hold trade qualifications .



Have the ability to work in a speedy and safe manner around staff residents and visitors



Demonstrate an aptitude for property maintenance and minor repairs around the home



Be able to undertake minor plumbing and joinery tasks, training can be provided



Understand and demonstrate the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace



Comply with organisational safety, policies, procedures and Fire Safety regulations



Manage own work to maintain the agreed redecoration schedule across the homes



Travel is involved between the homes on a weekly basis the applicant must have a current full driving licence. A small van is provided for the role



Attendance at head office for team meeting and events as required



Someone who can confidently use computers and communicate via emails, teams, WhatsApp and other common applications with a knowledge of how to access and use the internet



The successful candidate will undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check



Competence in communication via emails and social media networks as well as work with a laptop and smart phone to order and monitor materials and work orders.

Typical maintenance and repair activities not listed above



Make temporary repairs to elements of the home while awaiting a contractor to attend



Put up shelving, notice boards etc



Check fire doors remain in good condition at all times



Refix flooring



Resecure hand rails, handles toilet seats etc



Replace light bulbs as required



Repair / replace toilet syphons and refix handles



Replace handsets for the hi/Low beds



Dismantle and replace Hi/Low beds



Replace parts in dishwashers where manufactures supply spares



Put up and take down TV brackets and TVs



Relocate furniture within the home



Replace items on medication, food trolleys and other mobile equipment as required



Tidy garden areas as required (Only between garden contractors visits if necessary)



Refill grit bins, grit paths and roadways in winter (only where contractor cannot attend)



Put up and take down banners at the front of the home



Help with seasonal decorations



Maintain the van in a clean and presentable appearance



Complete weekly van checks to ensure road worthiness



Replace dish washer and other equipment parts as necessary (Only within manufacturers expectations)



Order and collect maintenance supplies from local suppliers in a managed process
