We are a growing painting and decorating contractor delivering high-quality finishes across a range of properties. We are looking for a hands-on Working Supervisor who can lead painting and decorating works on site, maintain quality, and support efficient delivery. As the business grows, some projects may also include small-scale refurbishment elements (e.g., making-good, minor repairs, coordination with other trades).
Key responsibilities
Lead day-to-day painting and decorating delivery on site (interior/exterior as required).
Prepare and plan work areas: surface preparation, protection, sequencing, and finish standards.
Supervise and support painters/decorators (employed and subcontract), including daily briefings and productivity.
Maintain quality control: check workmanship, manage snagging, and ensure consistent high standards.
Ensure safe working practices: basic site H&S, tidy work areas, PPE use, tool safety, and reporting issues.
Coordinate materials, consumables, and access requirements to keep work moving.
Provide progress updates: photos, short daily updates, snag lists, and materials requirements.
Liaise professionally with clients/site contacts regarding progress and next steps.
Occasional minor refurbishment coordination (as projects require): making-good, small repairs, and coordination with other trades/suppliers -- while the role remains primarily painting/decorating focused.
What we're looking for
Strong, proven painting and decorating experience with high-quality finish standards.
Experience leading work on site (working supervisor / chargehand / lead painter level).
Good knowledge of preparation methods, coatings, and common substrates.
Organised, reliable, and able to keep projects on programme.
Client-facing communication skills and a professional approach on site.
Driving licence preferred.
CSCS card preferred (or willingness to obtain).
