The St Giles Trust seeks a Pantry Coordinator to oversee the Islington Pantry, supporting low-income individuals with affordable food and advice to tackle food insecurity and health inequalities. 13,000 per annum (pro -rated ) 26,000 FTE

BACKGROUND
The St Giles Pantry will be providing a positive way of supporting those on low incomes, tackling poor diet and overcoming health inequalities, through the provision of surplus food stock being sold at heavily subsided prices. The St Giles Pantry provides an immediate safety net whilst providing a long-term solution of food insecurity. We couple healthy food with a healthy shopping experience.

People using the Pantry pay a weekly subscription of 4.50 and in return are able to access an abundance of affordable, nutritious food and added support. By coupling healthy food with expert advice, we can empower individuals and families to overcome the barriers they face. The food distributed by the Pantry is sustainably sourced and would otherwise gone to landfill.
(1) Key Deliverables

The Pantry Coordinator will supervise and work to provide support to individuals & families who are based in and around Islington. We are partnered with another charity providing community support to clients with a variety of low-risk mental health needs and a proportion of Pantry clients will be from this service. They will be responsible for the project achieving its overall purpose and key goals which will include the following: -
To oversee the day-to-day running of the Pantry.
To carry out and comply with all health and safety procedures and policies.
Ensure stock rotation accordance of health and safety regulations.
To provide nutritional and meal planning support and where needed healthy eating plans.
To ensure all labelling of food items are correctly displayed and to ensure any items are within the correct date for displaying.
Ensure deliveries and stock are correctly received and stored accordingly including stock management and rotation.
Meet and greet Pantry members attending the Pantry in a friendly and warm manner.
Positively support clients with a range of practical issues including benefits & debt advice and wellbeing, along with emotional support around areas such confidence building and developing resilience.
Positively supporting members and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
To support, manage and work alongside a team of volunteers.
To build and maintain relationships with local businesses who may wish to be actively involved within the Pantry.
Identify and manage relationships with other professional agencies within the borough and across London.
Produce monthly financial and written reports to ensure project remains on track according to delivery outcomes.
Promotion of the service within the local community, arranging promotional events as needed.
To carry out daily and weekly stock checks and ordering accordingly and ensure the shop complies with all health and safety guidelines.
Assist with completion of application forms in order to become a member of the St Giles Trust Pantry.
Explain how the Pantry works and the rules of membership additionally be responsible for collecting and recording membership fees.
