Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal (Block Management) to join our Property Recoveries team in our Bourne End office, working as part of the wider Debt Recovery department.

This exciting position at our growing and ambitious law firm in the heart of England will join our busy block management team, and is ideally suited to a committed individual, who works well in a team and has a 'can do' attitude. The applicant will be required to manage their own caseload and should have a strong understanding of leasehold and freehold property and Landlord and Tenant law. Some knowledge of Company structure is required.

Job Role



This varied role is a fantastic opportunity to work within a friendly and approachable team, working with highly experienced Secretaries, Solicitors, and Directors.

Responsibilities of the role would include, but are not limited to:

Setting up new clients and maintaining client details

Dealing with the onboarding process i.e SmartSearch

Completing the import of new instructions and attaching to files

Liaising with clients, managing agents, and third-party solicitors

Carrying out searches with the Land Registry and Companies House

Managing own caseload and assisting team where required

Monitoring, actioning, and diarising tasks.

Drafting and reviewing property-related deeds and documents such as licences for landlord's consent, deeds of variation to leases and transfer deeds and lease extensions

Creating and maintaining spreadsheets.

Data Validation

Obtaining execution of documentation (wet signature/Docusign etc.)

Completing transactions, scanning, and post-completion tasks.

Billing and sending Invoices

Dealing with Land Registry Requisitions

File closures.

Previous similar experience required - Essential

IT Skills - Essential

Client relationship management - Essential

Person Specification



Have a strong understanding of leasehold and freehold property and Landlord and Tenant law

Demonstrate an awareness of the professional standards required when working within a regulated law firm and the importance of delivering a quality service to our clients

Work well under pressure maintaining attention to detail

Self-motivated, organised with the ability to prioritise, be agile and manage own workload

Adhere to SRA rules

Punctual, honest and trustworthy

Understands requirements under Data Protection Act

Understands confidential nature of the environment

Demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate

Strong negotiation skills

Professional phone etiquette
