Paralegal \xe2\x80\x93 GG09 What is the opportunity?

  • Key member of the RBC Law Group team based in London, supporting senior lawyers and their business partners in their coverage of RBC\xe2\x80\x99s European Capital Markets businesses (Global Investment Banking and Markets).
What will you do?
  • Drafting, review and negotiation with RBC clients of a wide range of capital market legal agreements and documentation, for example confidentiality agreements, terms of business, powers of attorney, and research agreements;
  • Responsibility for evolving and maintaining RBC\xe2\x80\x99s standard forms and associated guidance;
  • Assisting in review and drafting of policies and procedures in light of regulatory change and developments;
  • Assisting in organising and delivering training to the business and functional partners and for the Law Group;
  • Assisting in maintaining and improving the internal Law Group knowledge management systems to improve aw Group efficiencies;
  • Assisting in the management of external counsel reporting and billing systems;
  • Assisting in preparing and submitting reports to senior Law Group members and business teams;
  • Assisting with broader Law Group and bank-wide projects and initiatives (e.g. research, regulatory initiatives and reviews, product development and process improvements);
  • Undertaking a wide range of legal, regulatory and factual research and analysis relevant to the Capital Markets businesses;
  • Providing support in connection with other RBC platforms in Europe (Wealth and Asset Management) as well as Law Group colleagues in globally (Canada, US and Asia).
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • Experience of investment banking and/or global markets businesses through previous work at a financial institution or international law firm is preferred.
  • Preference is for candidates to hold a high grade degree with post-graduate law conversion, where applicable.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills. IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Confident, highly motivated, pro-active and efficient team player who contributes to the continuous improvement of the Law Group. Results oriented, well organised and with ability to prioritise demands and manage stakeholders.
  • French / German / Spanish language may be beneficial, but are not essential.
