JOB DESCRIPTION Job responsibilities The post holder will be an experienced clinician, who, acting within their professional boundaries will provide clinical assessment and management of patients within practice. The post holder will support the delivery of high-quality care working within the Practice team, and with partners. Committed to the development of innovative practice and expanding evidence-based care which will contribute to the enhancement of the paramedic role. You will be expected to provide and maintain a high standard of care for patients as well as providing support to the GPs and other members of the primary health care team.
Supported by a skill mixed team, they will work within the practice, as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic, in the provision of a holistic approach for patients including assessment, diagnosis and treatment, to deliver quality patient services. Paramedics work autonomously within the community, using their enhanced clinical assessment and treatment skills to provide first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems relating to, for example, minor illness or injury, abdominal pains, chest pains and headaches. They are health professionals who have the capability to make sound judgements in the absence of full information and to manage varying degrees of risk when there are complex, competing or ambiguous information or uncertainty. The following sets out the key role responsibilities for paramedics: a.
They will assess and triage patients, including same day triage, and as appropriate provide definitive treatment or make necessary referrals to other members of the primary care team. b. They will advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to other community or voluntary services. c.
