Role Overview
The Park Operative is responsible for the day-to-day care and welfare of the animals, the upkeep of the park's facilities, and assisting with the setup and takedown of seasonal events. The ideal candidate will be experienced using tools and machinery, capable of working independently, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Good people skills and the ability to engage positively with visitors are also important, as this role contributes directly to the overall visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities
General Tasks
Maintain the overall condition of the site, infrastructure, and signage.
Keep play areas, visitor zones, and animal enclosures clean, safe, and well-presented.
Carry out regular safety inspections and basic repairs.
Assist with event setups -- building props, fences, grottos, and other themed features.
Operate tools and equipment confidently (e.g. drills, strimmer's, tractors, quads).
When the park is open and maintenance can't be done, assist with other duties such as driving the deer safari.
Animal Care Duties
Feed, clean, and monitor the welfare of all animals daily.
Complete checklists using the park's app and action any issues that arise.
Maintain clean, safe enclosures and replace bedding as required.
Inspect fences, housing, and enclosures for damage and carry out repairs.
Transport animals, supplies, or equipment as required (using company vehicle).
Create enrichment activities and improvements for animal welfare.
Essential Criteria
Full driving licence and access to a car.
Proven experience using hand tools and carrying out maintenance work.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Flexibility to adapt and support other duties as needed.
Comfortable working outdoors.
Creative mindset and interest in developing new enclosure ideas or event features.
Able to use a smart phone/computer to update online checklists, order supplies, and record daily tasks.
