The Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth operation of our Kidderminster branch. We can offer flexibility for the right candidate.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Flexible 4 hours per day (e.g., 10:00 - 14:00)
- Approximately 20 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
Maintain Sales, Purchase, and Private Ledgers accurately and up to date.
Complete month-end vendor payments and ensure timely processing.
Prepare accounts up to trial balance for review.
Handle VAT returns in compliance with HMRC requirements.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
Process supplier invoices and reconcile statements.
Assist with credit control and payment allocations.
Support the Finance Director with month-end tasks and reporting.
Requirements
Previous experience in accounts or bookkeeping.
Familiarity with accounting software (Sage or similar).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic IT skills (Excel, email).
Desirable
Experience in VAT returns and trial balance preparation.
Knowledge of construction or building supplies industry.
