Are you interested in broadening your knowledge and experience in brain injury? Do you want to make a positive difference to someone's life? Whatever your background, join our established team and help someone reach their full potential and live life to the max.
On behalf of our client, Head-First is recruiting a support worker to provide mainly daytime support to a 37-year-old man with an acquired brain injury living in his own home.
Shifts are 8 am to 6 pm on a rota basis, including weekdays, weekends, bank holidays, and some evening shifts. Two support workers are planned to provide care. In addition to regular shifts, there is the opportunity to pick up extra shifts to cover sickness and annual leave.
Our client lives in the Reigate/Merstham area. He has a military background and very much enjoys getting out into the community, as well as taking part in social and leisure pursuits such as cycling and attending the local gyms and swimming pools. He enjoys social participation and talking to people. Due to his brain injury, he requires support with aspects of daily living, including preparation of meals, domestic tasks and his engagement in social & leisure interests. Still, he has a great determination to be as independent as possible. Assistance with the client's mobility rehabilitation is essential to the role. Following his brain injury, his limitations are predominately physical, and these are constantly improving. He is a highly driven, upbeat and positive person with a great sense of humour and appreciative of his team.
It should be noted that the client has cats and dogs.
Support requirements:
To maximise our client's independence.
To work closely with the client's rehabilitation team, including a physiotherapist and speech and language therapist.
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. They should be able to work independently with the client and be good team players.
Up-to-date Adult Workforce DBS at the enhanced level is required - the employer will pay if you need to apply.
Must hold a full driver's licence.
