We at The Pollen Partnership are seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team, supporting the smooth operation of our catering services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and food service, with a keen eye for detail and excellent customer service skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing high-quality catering support for diverse occasions.
We have a permanent and newly created part time position looking to commence by the end of January. It will involve working at Claremont Senior School in Bodiam, and the role will be a term time only position working Monday to Friday 10.30 - 14.30, 20 hours per week, 35 weeks of the year.
Ideally we are looking for a happy, confident team player who is not afraid of hard work!
You will work closely with the current chef manager and the rest of the team in setting up and providing lunch for the children to enjoy.
The role also involves some general food preparation for the main lunchtime meal along with dish washer/washing up duties and general cleaning associated with working in a busy kitchen.
Duties
Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items meet safety and quality standards
Serve food and beverages to guests in a professional and courteous manner
Set up and clear catering areas, including tables, serving stations, and dining spaces
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and service areas throughout shifts
Follow food safety protocols diligently to ensure compliance with health regulations
Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional customer experiences during events
Qualifications:
Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour suitable for engaging with guests
Ability to work flexibly across various shifts, including evenings if required
A proactive attitude towards teamwork and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
Due to the nature and environment of the job you must be at least 18 years of age to apply, and we will require a full and clean DBS check carried out by The Pollen Partnership for you to be successful.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided and due to location transport would be advantageous.
