The Richmond Primary Academy is now recruiting a Class Teacher (0.6FTE) - with possible full time from November 2025 until 31st August 2026 (maternity cover).

About the role:


We are looking for an enthusiastic class teacher to join our friendly and professional team from 1st September 2025. They will contribute to the excellent teaching practice in our school and offer the perfect balance between an excellent education and the nurtured development of every individual child's qualities. The successful candidate will deliver quality teaching, possess excellent communication skills, be creative and have a passion to work with young children - and able to teach the full range of abilities.

To create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, attractive and stimulating environment which is conducive to children's learning. To plan and prepare lessons in order to deliver the school's curriculum, ensuring breadth and balance in all subjects. To identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate differentiation, challenge, support and maintain with high expectations. To maintain good order and discipline among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety following school procedures and policies. To organise and manage groups or individual pupils ensuring differentiation of learning needs, reflecting all abilities. To plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of pupils' learning. To maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping and reporting of children's progress. To prepare appropriate records for the transfer of pupils. To be part of a whole school team, actively involved in decision-making on the preparation and development of policies and programmes of study, teaching materials, resources, methods of teaching and pastoral arrangements. To ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice. To communicate and consult with parents over all aspects of their children's education - academic, social and emotional. To liaise with outside agencies when appropriate eg. Educational Psychologist. To continue professional development, maintaining a portfolio of training undertaken. To meet with parents and appropriate agencies, to contribute positively to the education of the children concerned. To support the Principal in promoting the ethos of the school.

Who we are looking for

Qualified teacher status A degree or equivalent qualification. Experience of working within a primary classroom Good to outstanding judgements made through teacher appraisal. Is a creative thinker who strives to embed innovative practice and strategies to improve learning for all pupils. Is committed to professional development. Demonstrates the highest levels of professionalism as a role model at all times and demonstrates the school's aims and values at all times. Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children. Willing to maintain effective relationships with parents. Is committed to the development of the whole child and recognise the importance of their well- being. An ability to inspire staff and pupils alike through your passion and commitment to raising standards in the subject you would lead.
