Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals for residents with a variety of dietary and nutritional needs
Cater for special diets (e.g. diabetic, soft/pureed, allergies, cultural preferences)
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
Work as part of the care home team to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable and safe
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Follow all health and safety procedures diligently
Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring timely meal preparation
Restock ingredients and supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Collaborate with colleagues to optimise workflow and maintain high-quality service standards
Skills
Proven experience in food preparation and cooking
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Experience in meal preparation and serving is desirable
4.5 - 5 hours per day - 2 days a week
