Overview


We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the company's credit control processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while maintaining positive relationships with clients. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with various accounting software.

Responsibilities



Conduct credit checks on new and existing customers to assess creditworthiness. Prepare and send out proforma invoices and reminders for overdue payments. Liaise with clients regarding payment terms and resolve any discrepancies or disputes, including negotiating payment plans. Maintain accurate records of all communications with clients regarding their accounts. Process invoices, payments, and expenses accurately and in a timely manner including processing of receipts and petty cash. Collaborate with the finance team to report on outstanding debts and cash flow forecasts. Perform regular bank reconciliations by comparing bank statements with financial records, identifying, and resolving discrepancies, and updating the accounting system accordingly. Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to credit control activities. Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations regarding credit management. Monitor and manage the company's accounts receivable to ensure timely payments from clients. Provide administrative support: Assist in general administrative tasks related to finance, such as organizing files, maintaining databases, and responding to inquiries.

Experience



Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role is essential. Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Simpro or similar platforms is highly desirable. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial reporting. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with clients. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution within a financial context. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

Generous Annual Leave:

To Start: 31 days annually, including bank holidays (That is currently 23 days base + 8 bank holidays). Additional: Potential to increase to 36 days annually (That is 28 days base + 8 bank holidays) based on length of service.
