This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of payroll and HR administration in a role that really makes a difference. You'll ensure our staff are paid accurately and on time, support recruitment and onboarding, and keep our employee records organised and compliant.
You'll be working as part of a small, supportive team.
What You'll Be Doing
Payroll (possibly or we could outsource this)
Prepare and process 4 weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time.
Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements (PAYE, National Insurance, pension auto-enrolment, RTI submissions).
Manage new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
Handle statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.) and year-end processing (P60s, P11Ds).
Maintain payroll records and confidentiality at all times.
Liaise with external payroll providers and HMRC when needed.
HR Administration
Maintain accurate and GDPR-compliant employee records and HR systems.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, and HR correspondence.
Track staff holidays, sickness, and other absences.
Support HR compliance with UK employment law and company policies.
Be a helpful and approachable first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries.
About You
Previous experience in payroll and HR administration (2+ years preferred).
Good knowledge of UK payroll and employment legislation.
Confident using payroll/HR systems (e.g., Sage One Payroll/ Iris).
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel / Word).
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
CIPD Level 3 or equivalent HR qualification (or working towards it).
CIPP Foundation or similar payroll qualification.
