MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a dedicated and adaptable Maths/Generalist Tutor to join the team based at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester, on a part time basis.
As a Maths/Generalist Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based students through high-quality teaching, clear explanations, and well-designed learning resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs, varied starting points, and may have had negative experiences of education in the past. As a successful tutor, you will inspire confidence, rebuild their relationship with learning, and provide a positive, supportive classroom environment.
This role may involve outreach work outside the main classroom setting. You will build professional, respectful relationships with learners, supporting them to develop essential maths and functional skills, working towards accredited qualifications as well as improved confidence, problem-solving abilities, and employability skills. You will also have the opportunity to design your own schemes of work and lesson plans, with protected planning time and guidance from an advanced practitioner to ensure quality.
We are seeking an individual who can communicate clearly, motivate learners, and bring patience, creativity, and flexibility to their teaching. Classes typically consist of around 12 students and are supported by a student mentor and inclusion practitioners. Sessions are approximately 2.75 hours long, so your lessons will need to be engaging, adaptable, and varied to meet learners' needs and maintain motivation.
