We are seeking a Part Time Payroll and Workplace Pensions Assistant to join our dynamic team. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to support payroll processing, manage workplace pension schemes, and ensure compliance with financial and HR regulations. As a key contributor, you will help streamline payroll operations, maintain accurate records, and assist with benefits administration, all while gaining valuable experience in financial management within a vibrant organizational environment. The hourly rate is to be confirmed depending on experience.
Duties
Assist with processing payroll using systems to ensure timely and accurate salary payments
Support the administration of workplace pension schemes, including data entry and compliance checks
Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, benefits enrollments, and pension contributions
Reconcile accounts related to payroll and benefits, ensuring accuracy in general ledger entries and account balances
Collaborate with the HR team to update employee information within HRIS (Human Resources Information System) platforms
Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes linked to payroll expenses and benefit payments
Support benefits administration activities including enrollment updates, documentation management, and compliance reporting
Conduct routine account reconciliations, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping tasks to uphold financial integrity
Help prepare reports on payroll costs, tax filings, and pension scheme participation for internal review
Experience
Previous experience working with payroll and pensions preferably in practice.
Familiarity with accounting software for example sage.
Basic understanding of corporate accounting principles including general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, journal entries, and bookkeeping practices
Knowledge of benefits administration processes and pension scheme regulations is a plus
Strong data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10-key typing preferred
Exposure to non-profit or governmental accounting practices is advantageous but not required
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data accurately and perform account reconciliation tasks
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams within human resources and finance functions
