If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Harborough District Children and Young People's Charity (HCYC) as a Play & Youth Work Leader.

At HCYC, we believe that every young person deserves access to safe, inclusive spaces where they can thrive. As a Play & Youth Work Leader, you'll help create these spaces by organising and leading youth sessions that focus on confidence-building, well-being, and personal development. You'll work from various outreach locations, including community venues and our mobile youth facility - The Chill Out Bus.
You will also be directly involved in the face-to-face delivery of our
Travelling Forward Project,
where you will lead the following sessions:
Mondays, 3:15pm to 5:15pm at Justin Park, Market Harborough
Wednesdays, 3:15pm to 5:15pm at Mere Farm, Ullesthorpe
Thursdays, 3:15pm to 5:15pm at Greenacres, Market Harborough
Who are we looking for?
You'll be an enthusiastic and committed youth work practitioner with experience working in informal settings. If you are organised, adaptable, and passionate about supporting young people, this could be the perfect role for you. We're looking for someone with:
Experience in youth work or playwork with children and young people aged 5 to 19
Strong communication and organisational skills
The ability to lead safe, positive, and engaging sessions for young people
Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities
A willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various outreach locations across Harborough District
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, and deliver play and youth work sessions in a range of outreach locations
Lead activities that promote the well-being, development, and inclusion of young people
Ensure health and safety standards are maintained during all sessions
Conduct risk assessments and address any risks during sessions
Encourage participation and provide opportunities for young people to share their views
Maintain session records and report on young people's learning and development
