Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Participation and Engagement Officer to join our Carers Service.


The postholder will play a key role in:

Supporting the provision of the My Time Voucher Scheme for carers whose role is having a low to medium impact on their health and wellbeing. Developing and delivering opportunities to welcome new volunteers by connecting with local professional volunteer networks, community groups, and partner organisations. Working across whole communities - including voluntary, statutory, and private sector partners - to identify hidden carers, support their registration, and provide wraparound support.

Specific Responsibilities




As a Participation and Engagement Officer, you will:

Develop and deliver volunteer recruitment opportunities through networks, community groups, events, and educational institutions. Conduct interviews with volunteers, oversee DBS checks, and manage references. Support volunteer inductions, training, and ongoing mentoring to ensure high-quality service delivery. Help develop and manage sitting services for cared-for individuals with low to medium needs, including referral processing, volunteer matching, and monitoring outcomes. Support delivery of a wide range of carer support services, such as groups, events, social activities, and therapies. Manage booking processes, liaise with venues and providers, and raise purchase orders in line with procedures. Develop and expand the My Time Voucher Scheme, including sourcing new opportunities, processing applications, and enabling successful applicants to access their chosen support. Promote the visibility of services in communities using varied outreach methods. Complete risk assessments to safeguard volunteers, carers, and cared-for individuals. Monitor, evaluate, and report on outputs and outcomes of the Volunteer and My Time Voucher Scheme. Contribute to newsletters, bulletins, and effective communications for carers and professionals. Maintain accurate database records and ensure effective reporting. Meet individual performance targets as set by the Service Manager. Safeguard the welfare of children and adults at all times. Provide flexible support across the wider Carers Service team as needed.

We are looking for someone who is:

Passionate about community engagement and supporting carers. Skilled in building relationships across diverse communities and organisations. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities. Confident in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers. Experienced in service delivery, monitoring, and reporting. Committed to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing.
