Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Part Time Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Charlottes Restaurant, within our Fairoak Garden Centre. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food preparation, kitchen operations, and team collaboration within a vibrant hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for cooking, a strong work ethic, and a desire to grow their culinary career.
The role will be 4 days a week, Saturday - Tuesday working between the hours of 0800 - 1700, therefore NO LATE NIGHTS or SPLIT SHIFTS
Duties
Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support the kitchen team in food production, ensuring timely and quality service during busy periods
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
Help with inventory control by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or discrepancies
Contribute to menu planning ideas and support special catering as needed
Follow all food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and excellent food service delivery
Skills
Previous experience in a similar environment is desirable but not essential
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management practices
Experience with inventory management, food safety protocols, and dietary considerations
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to manage shift responsibilities effectively
Familiarity with restaurant or hospitality industry standards and customer service excellence
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
