Part-Time Production Assembly Associate

We have an opening for a versatile electronic and mechanical assembly job in our small, fast-growing company. We are looking for people enthusiastic about quality and productivity to join the Manufacturing department at our Attercliffe site.

About the Role





Initially, the primary duties of this job would include:


Building a range of laboratory equipment, which will involve the assembly of cables and wiring harnesses, electronic enclosures, and linear motion systems. Conducting quality assurance checks on assembled equipment, as well as maintaining records of equipment inspections and any test data generated. Maintaining stock levels of both completed equipment and associated constituent components, to meet wider sales and production demand.

Full training will be provided, but experience with electronics or mechanical tool usage is desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who are able to work consistent hours each week, although we offer flexibility to fit around studies or other commitments. We are happy to accommodate leave for exams, key assignments, or other important occasions.



The successful candidate will gain experience working in a small and friendly team, as well as insight into the inner workings of a rapidly growing SME. You will work both collaboratively and independently under your own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems.

We are seeking a highly motivated electrochemist to join our R&D team and drive our electrochemical product development. This role involves researching and developing new products and technologies based on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical systems measurement cells, potentiostats, and galvanostats.

About the Role





At Ossila, we manufacture, source, and develop a wide range of scientific equipment in Sheffield including our potentiostat, electrochemical cells, and advanced photoelectrochemical cells. We support green research through offering scientific technologies and equipment for CO2 emissions research, clean water and energy development, battery and solar cell materials, and more.



Our R&D team has significant expertise in the applications of the products we develop and the fundamentals of engineering and control systems. As a product development electrochemist, you will initially focus on the product development of electrodes, electrochemical cells, and photoelectrochemical cells for application in the fields of cyclic voltammetry, electrocatalytically reactions, corrosion tests, fuel cells, and batteries. You will also take the initiative for upgrading our existing potentiostat and developing a prototype galvanostat.



This is a great opportunity for you to take ownership of developing a suite of electrochemistry products, offering you high-value commercial experience for your career development as an electrochemist. Your responsibilities will centre on tasks such as:


Product development of electrodes, electrochemical cells, and photoelectrochemical cells. Providing quality customer support and service to our customers. Content development for electrochemical products including white papers, videos, and graphics. Working with our test and measurement team to upgrade our existing potentiostat to expand its applications for corrosion studies, electrochemical synthesis, and battery research. Developing a prototype design of a galvanostat by working with application scientists and engineers, pairing our existing electronic sub-units with custom, precision-designed circuitry.

As part of a small and fast-growing company, you will work both collaboratively and independently. When required, you will work under your own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems.

About You





We are looking for a proactive electrochemist with strong foundational skills in electrochemistry, broad existing knowledge, and an eagerness to learn and apply new technologies. You should be passionate about product development and customer service, keen on problem-solving, and enthusiastic about the full lifecycle of product development.


You hold a PhD in electrochemistry, electrocatalytic research, or a similar degree. You wish to dedicate to yourself to helping the community through the development of high-quality, low-price electrochemical products with the added value of expert customer service and support. You have demonstrable experience in one of the following domains: + Hands-on expertise with cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, fuel cells, electrocatalytic CO2 reduction or HER/OERs.
+ Hands-on experience with potentiostats, or galvanostats, or both.
You are an expert in electrochemical reactions and electrochemical characterizations and have experience working with electrochemical cells or photoelectrochemical cells. You are a proactive problem-solver with the resourcefulness to research and test solutions independently, supported by our experienced R&D team. You enjoy being part of a team and fostering a collaborative environment.

Preparation and packaging of our range of laboratory equipment. Maintaining levels of packaging materials and equipment stock on hand. Liaising with our Customer Care Team to ensure smooth fulfilment of customer orders and to quickly remedy any issues that may arise. Managing the flow of returned equipment. Communicating with our Operations Team to ensure incoming deliveries are directed to the correct areas within our site. Then organising safe unloading and delivery to the correct addressee. Conducting initial inspections of delivered components.

Full training will be provided, but experience with product packing and dispatch, or goods-in handling is desirable.
